The Red Cross, together with the island's security and emergency services, have begun a search operation to try to find Antonio Martín González, a 90-year-old man with Alzheimer's, who disappeared this Wednesday in the mid-afternoon in the town of Playa Honda.

Despite his advanced age, he is in exceptional physical shape according to his family. He suffers from Alzheimer's and a previous disappearance almost cost him his life as he appeared malnourished and with sunstroke. The last time he was seen, Antonio was wearing light gray pants and a white striped polo shirt. His height is 1.68 meters and his hair is gray, combed back and with very pronounced receding hairlines.

In addition to the Red Cross, several local police forces and volunteer Civil Protection groups from both San Bartolomé and Yaiza have deployed personnel and vehicles around the island to find Antonio.
