A 9-meter sailboat runs aground in Playa Blanca after being dragged by the wind

A 9-meter sailboat, which was anchored without occupants in front of the small stone beach next to the port of Playa Blanca, was dragged this Thursday by the action of the strong wind, which took it to the shore, becoming embedded at the foot of the southern promenade.

Local Police and Civil Protection of Yaiza attended the alert at 14:25 hours, anchoring the boat to secure it until the arrival of the crane that proceeded to beach it.

The owner of the sailboat came to the place and confirmed that since he bought the boat three years ago, he used to anchor it in the same area. "The last time I went sailing was on Sunday, to accompany the sailboats participating in the Gran Prix del Atlántico at the start," he commented.

The owner, a resident of Playa Blanca who used the boat for recreational activity, began to assess the material damage this Thursday, although he advanced that he had it insured. The sailboat broke cables and was at the mercy of the waves.
