The Yaiza City Council has concluded this Friday the cycle of dynamic talks on healthy habits that took place at the CEIP Playa Blanca. On the occasion of these conferences, 700 students from public schools in the municipality gathered at the venue in order to raise awareness among the youngest population about the importance of physical activity, regularly practicing some sport and eating a healthy diet. In addition, they were able to share their concerns.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, recalls that "Canary Islands is the Autonomous Community with the second highest rate of childhood obesity in Spain. Clearly, the lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet are determining factors in this concern."

Ángel Lago, Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, reports that "the cycle was taught to boys and girls from third to sixth grade with the mission of explaining in a simple, dynamic way and with a very close language the need to reduce the intake of foods with saturated fats and sugars and invite reflection on the little time we dedicate to rest and sports in exchange for the excessive use of mobile devices." The child population needs to rest better and consume much more fruits and vegetables, and many families may know it, but for health it is necessary to try to put it into practice.
