The municipality of Yaiza does not see confinement as an obstacle to giving continuity to the commemorative program of the death of Víctor Fernández Gopar (1844? 1920), and does so by disseminating on social networks edited and musicalized short videos where admirers of 'El Salinero' read, recite and sing from their homes verses by the popular poet from Las Breñas. The City Council is leading this initiative together with Ediciones Remotas, a Lanzarote publishing house that published, with the support of Yaiza, the reissue of Agustín de la Hoz's book that compiles the verses of Víctor Fernández Gopar.
"There are many ways to communicate poetry and we believe that we can take advantage of the possibilities offered by social networks, and especially the great willingness shown by followers of the lyrics of 'El Salinero', to give greater dissemination to his incredible work of social content", says the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda.
The Yaiza City Council also publishes on its YouTube channel all the micro-videos that it uploads to social networks so that the public that wishes to can view them at any time. You only need to visit the website www.yaiza.es and click on the commemorative cover banner of the centenary of 'El Salinero' to display the window with the duly updated video playlist.
At the moment six videos have been published, although the City Council has others edited that it will be disseminating periodically as Ediciones Remotas also does on its networks. The two entities promoting the initiative thank the musician Toñín Corujo for the transfer of his theme 'Noches de Jameos', which sets the audiovisual content to music.
In the set of micro-videos published so far, the interpretations of Antonio Corujo, a Lanzarote folklorist, appear; Carmen Tortosa, director of the documentary 'The time of salt. Following in the footsteps of Víctor Fernández Gopar'; Manuel Concepción, head of production of this same film sponsored by the Yaiza City Council; Clotildo Martín, director of the Janubio band, who appears next to his daughter Fayna singing verses by 'El Salinero'; and Tere Barrios and Gregorio Medina, both residents of the town of Las Breñas linked to the Janubio band.
The Yaiza City Council values the participation of all citizens who have wanted to join this initiative aimed at disseminating the "eternal" work of Víctor Fernández Gopar.
