The municipality of Yaiza has invited the residents and visitors of Lanzarote to enjoy the upcoming May 30th, on the occasion of Canary Islands Day, with a special program in the towns of Uga and Playa Blanca. In both locations, neighborhood gatherings and performances of Canarian folklore and enyesque are planned.
Therefore, the City Council also encourages enjoying both the premiere of the play Loca Historia Maha, the first scenic work that narrates the history of the first settlers of Lanzarote and the conquest of the Island, on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Uga tent, as well as the institutional act on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. on Limones Street in Playa Blanca, marked by the raising of flags and the performance of the Yaiza Municipal Band.
However, the program has other activities of interest for children and adults. On Wednesday, a Canarian ball workshop for boys and girls (4:30 p.m.) is planned in Uga, organized by the La Huerta Vieja Association, and another workshop, also for minors, on making gofio (5:00 p.m.). After the play, the stall will take place in the municipal market square of Uga adjacent to the tent, with performances by the Geito gang and the Tonique Folklore Group from Tenerife.
Thursday the 30th, the big day of the Canary Islands, begins with the institutional act at ten in the morning and continues with the Canarian wrestling exhibition at 11:00 a.m. on the small beach of Playa Blanca by the wrestling school of the Unión Sur Yaiza Club. The stall in Playa Blanca is organized for 1:00 p.m. in Plaza del Carmen, enlivened by the Son del Norte gang and the Sondemar group. On behalf of the Yaiza City Council, Mayor Óscar Noda and Councilor for Celebrations Javier Camacho encourage you to consult the program at yaiza.es and participate as a family.
