Tías encourages young people to visit the Canarian Corner with samples of Canarian stick and shepherd's jump

It is part of the City Council's program for Canary Islands Day

To celebrate Canary Islands Day, the Tías City Council has also directed its programming to the young people of the municipality, encouraging them to participate in all its events, especially in the Canary Islands Corner. The Canary Islands Corner, which will be held on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Plaza de la Ermita San Antonio, includes exhibitions of Canarian stick and shepherd's jump, among other activities.

“The general programming is very varied and different departments have participated. From my area we are committed to bringing young people closer to activities and games that are not so common but are part of our tradition, and that is why we have created this Canarian corner. I am sure that they will enjoy the workshops and exhibitions very much”, says the Councilor for Youth, Christopher Notario.

The venue will open on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Plaza Leandro Fajardo (next to the hermitage) with workshops on mud, rosette, empleita and mojos aimed at the general public, especially young people and children. These workshops will last until 1:00 p.m., but from 11:30 a.m. there will also be exhibitions of Canarian stick and shepherd's jump, as well as threshing with donkey and camel and work to sift the grain and make tostijo.
