This Friday, July 1, the sixth edition of the White Night of Teguise kicks off and the historic center of the Villa has already begun to be decorated. On the morning of this Tuesday, preparations have begun there to receive the more than 8,000 people who are expected to attend, and who will be able to enjoy a varied program of activities.
From 5:00 p.m., the leisure offer for the little ones begins, with cooking workshops, games and sports demonstrations, as well as theater, dance, music, lots of magic, hiking, Black Night of pirates in the Castle, shows and various exhibitions, as well as fireworks, which will give way to street concerts, which will extend until 4 in the morning.
The Teguise City Council, taking advantage of the authenticity and magic of the historic center of the Villa, has consolidated this artistic, cultural and social project, which was born in 2011 and two years later was awarded as Distinguished Tourism in the Events category in favor of the tourism sector of Lanzarote. "It has become an obligatory event that is difficult to avoid in the leisure calendar of all Lanzarote residents, Canarians and foreign visitors," the Council highlights.
To ensure that this night is "as special as those who visit us every year expect", the Culture area of Teguise, coordinated by Olivia Duque, with the collaboration of all departments, as well as the State Security Forces, have done a "great job of planning and organization", as required by an event of this type, in which the hospitality industry in the center of the Villa will also open its doors with gastronomic suggestions.
"Teguise has been preparing for some time so that the revitalization and mobility is carried out with total comfort and safety for the thousands of people who will come throughout the afternoon to the Villa, for which all the necessary security measures have been put in place, as well as a bus service, wishing everyone to enjoy a special night in which Teguise has once again proposed to illuminate culture in the streets of the historic site", said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.
Special transport for the White Night
The Cabildo de Lanzarote will enable a special public passenger transport service for the White Night of Teguise 2016, departing from the Arrecife Bus Station to La Villa de Teguise from 7:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1.
The return from Teguise to Arrecife will be at midnight, at 2:00 a.m. and at 4:00 a.m. on July 2, with a stop enabled on José Fajardo Morales street in Teguise. The service fee will be the one corresponding to the application of the current rate to the Arrecife-Teguise route and vice versa, and the stops corresponding to said Line will be made. For the outward journey, in Teguise the stop has been enabled on Gran Aldea avenue, intersection with Tebete street (general road of Teguise, before the Casa Suso roundabout).
