Good news continues for the Lanzarote actor Roberto Cabrera and the short film he stars in and for which he has already been awarded at various festivals, 'Expenses Included', which has been nominated in the next edition of the Goya Awards.
The work directed by Javier Macipe will compete in the category of best fiction short film and will walk the red carpet of the awards that recognize the best works of the past year in the Spanish film industry.
This is a new recognition of the work of the conejero performer, who shares the bill with the experienced Ramón Barea, National Theater Award. Cabrera was awarded last year as best leading actor at the Tarazona and Moncayo Comedy Film Festival; the Fuentes de Ebro Film Festival, in Zaragoza; the Palencia International Film Festival and the Almería International Film Festival.
"This is the perfect culmination of a job that has given me nothing but joy and unforgettable experiences; for the entire 'Expenses Included' team it would be a dream to be able to take the Goya for best short film, with everything it represents," says Roberto Cabrera.
And 'Expenses Included' has garnered different awards at events such as the Guadalajara Solidarity Film Festival (Fescigu); the Aragonese Short Film Exhibition; the Fuentes de Ebro Film Festival; the Abbagetown Festival of Canada; the Tarazona Film Festival; the Palencia International Film Festival; the Sant Joan D'Alacant Film Festival; the Mostra Curts de Moscatell, and the Almería en Corto Short Film Festival, being selected in addition in different contests both inside and outside our borders.
Professional career
Roberto Cabrera trained at the prestigious school of Juan Carlos Corazza, in Madrid, and has combined his studies of Law and Psychology with work in different short films, music videos and television programs.
In 2010 he made his debut in the world of short films with 'Ephemeral', also under the direction of Javier Macipe, with whom he obtained the 'Paco Rabal' award for best actor at the SCIFE Festival of Zaragoza and special mention from the jury for best male performance at the Delicias Festival.
After 'Expenses Included' he has starred in the short film 'El Ritual', for the Rueda con Rueda festival, directed by Álvaro Moriano. He also participated in the short 'Globo', by director José Campos, starring Carmen Ruiz and José Troncoso, as well as in an Internet video for Christmas entitled 'This year it's our turn', by Santi Requejo, director of the film 'Grandparents', which can be seen at the moment on Amazon Prime.
Among his current projects is a series of comedy sketches for YouTube under the title of 'Inverse Psychologist'
