After the break caused by the elections of May 28, the Casa-Museo del Timple continues with the cultural activities scheduled for this year.
On the night of last Thursday, July 6, in the Santo Domingo de Teguise convent and coinciding with the reading of the proclamation in honor of the festivities of Ntra. Sra. del Carmen, the concert of the group 'Kanaríí' took place, a group exclusively composed of women, a remarkable and noteworthy characteristic, but that even today, it still is, given how strange the existence of a group of this type is, exclusively female, something that is a value in itself.
'Kanaríí' is made up of eight Canary Island musicians who come together for the first time in this common project. Talent, knowledge and experience serve as the foundation for this group that sets no limits. Under the musical direction of Jacqueline García, the voices of Míriam Reyes, Ana Gil and Mari Carmen Segura, and the contribution of Gema Barragán with the bass, Nisamar Díaz with the piano, Noelia Rodríguez with the flute and Laura Márquez with the percussion.
The group assembles instrumentalists and singers in an original way to make modern music, with their own arrangements of different themes. For the concerts, the intention has been to create a repertoire that represents each and every one of the members of the group. And also, trying to make it a show with content in which songs are covered that have not been heard until now in the rest of the Canary Island groups and that travel through countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Chile, Spain and the Canary Islands, as a link between continents and cultures. In short, songs that reach the heart and make your feet move.
The audience was able to enjoy a great concert where each of the members gave it their all and the solo voices of Míriam Reyes and Mari Carmen Segura, surprised by the powerful and tuned voices that did not resist any of the genres to be interpreted in the night. Although the absence of the soloist Ana Gil was lamented, who was indisposed and could not travel to Lanzarote, the night also had a very emotional point because at that same moment, the component Nisamar Díaz, in charge of the piano, was celebrating her birthday, who was surprised when her colleagues and the public joined to sing 'Happy Birthday'. The pianist with tears in her eyes thanked her for such a beautiful detail.
Finally, the concert ended when the mayor Olivia Duque and the Councilor for Culture Francisco Javier Díaz presented her with a replica of the advertising poster.
