The Romí Flamenco Festival arrives in Lanzarote with a constellation of flamenco stars

Some of the most prominent names in current flamenco will be on stage, such as maestro Antonio Canales, along with Karime Amaya, Nazaret Reyes and El Torombo or Montse Cortés and Kiki Cortiñas

Lanzarote is preparing to host a new edition of the Festival Flamenco Romí, which will bring 14 essential figures of flamenco to the island in a unique show. My origin is flamenco will take place on Saturday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero” and represents an exceptional opportunity to rediscover the strength and emotion of this art declared a World Heritage Site.

The Culture Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío, highlights the importance of this festival within the island's cultural program. “Having an event of this level in Lanzarote is a privilege as we bring the essence of the most authentic flamenco to the island's public, supporting a project that promotes talent and pays tribute to the history and legacy of this art,” says Machín.

Some of the most prominent names in current flamenco will be on stage. In dance, maestro Antonio Canales, along with Karime Amaya, Nazaret Reyes and El Torombo. In singing, figures of the stature of Montse Cortés, Kiki Cortiñas, Juan José Amador “El Perre” and Amparo Velasco “La Negra”, in addition to the Granada sisters Estrella and Macarena Fernández, with their unmistakable flamenco style.

The musical direction will be in the hands of Juan Carmona “El Camborio”, with the guitar of Yoni Jiménez, recent winner of the Bordón de Oro at the Festival de la Minas. They will be accompanied by the percussions of Tino di Giraldo and Antón Suárez, along with the brothers Bernardo Parrilla (violin) and Juan Parrilla (flute), and the guitar of Manuel Fernández.

In addition, for the first time in the Canary Islands, El Tío Bobote will be present, a dancer and palmero from the 3000 Viviendas neighborhood of Seville, a virtuoso of flamenco rhythm and art.

The Festival Flamenco Romí was born in 2014 under the artistic direction of José Heredia Santiago and the impulse of the Romí Kamela Nakerar Association, with the aim of honoring Gypsy women and the great masters of flamenco. Since its creation, it has maintained a strong commitment to the promotion of young talents through the program "Promotion of young talents", which seeks to facilitate the professionalization of new flamenco musicians.
