This Thursday, May 25, the raising of the Canary Island flag took place at 8:00 p.m. in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park in Arrecife. The event, which took place until 10:00 p.m., was accompanied by different musical groups from the island and there was even an exhibition of old cars.
Last Tuesday, May 23, the events of "Arrecife Vive Canarias 2023" began, a festival that will coincide with the celebration of "Canary Islands Day" on Tuesday, May 30 and will last all week. A day that will make Arrecife "dress up to celebrate its neighbors and visitors with the traditional buches, with their salty flavor and with the sound of timples and guitars", the City Council reports.
Regarding the programming for the next days, May 26, 27, 28, 19 and 30, a opening of restaurant stands and crafts exhibition will take place this Friday in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park, next Monday a performance by the group "Los Conejeros" in that same park and on Tuesday, a popular Canarian meal enlivened by "Ende cuando no salimos".
"From the Arrecife City Council we join the celebration with an extensive program of activities through which we can get closer to our history; to the struggle of the men and women of this land for water; to the native sports and traditional games; to our crafts; folklore or popular music, among others," adds Astrid Pérez.
"Proud of what we are, of our past and present, let's enjoy the party together, always looking to the horizon and with open arms. Happy Canary Islands Day!", concludes the City Council.
