The Lanzarote International Film Festival will close with cinema, dialogue, and the grand final gala

The meeting with judges and guest stars will take place this Saturday with free admission until full capacity

The Lanzarote International Film Festival enters its final days of programming, consolidating itself as one of the major cultural and cinematographic events in the Canary Islands. The final stretch of this 26th edition will be marked by literary presentations, public discussions, meetings with prominent figures from the national audiovisual sector, and an anticipated Closing Gala that will put the finishing touch on an intense week of cinema on the island.

 

Screenings and discussion with Canarian directors

The Canarian Short Film Section will once again occupy a prominent place in the festival's programming. A special session will be held this Friday, in the Sala Buñuel of CIC El Almacén, at 8:00 PM, bringing together creators, professionals, and the public for a showcase of the archipelago's current audiovisual landscape.

The event will include the screening of nine works by Canarian filmmakers: Blue, by Adrián Viador; Cuenta Atrás, by Iván Umpiérrez; La Habitación, by Nacho Peña; Marcos y Cordero, by Víctor Hubara; Mi madre siempre quiso ser médico, by Daniel Herrera; Mujer con flores, by Jonay García; Rebel Storm: A Star Wars Collateral Story, by Marino Darés; Three Volcanoes and One Love, by Andrius Lekavicius; and Toma Tierra, by Yon Bengoechea. Following the screenings, there will be a discussion with the participating directors, addressing the creative and professional challenges of filmmaking in the Canary Islands.

 

Words, perspectives, and cinema: an open encounter with the voices of the festival

The programming will continue this Saturday at CIC El Almacén, the cultural epicenter of Arrecife, with a day dedicated to dialogue and the exchange of experiences between industry professionals and the Lanzarote public.

At 11:00 AM, the presentation of the book Mujeres de Cine will take place, by its author, actress and writer Ruth Gabriel, a work that reflects on the role of women within the film and audiovisual industry.

Later, at 12:00 PM, the anticipated meeting and colloquium will be held, featuring the participation of director Arantxa Echevarría; actor and screenwriter Carlos Bardem; actors Javier Pereira, Tamar Novas, Alberto Jo Lee, and Boré Buika; actress and writer Ruth Gabriel; journalist and RTVE presenter Susana Castañón; Canarian creative director Joel Barrios; art director Silvia Navarro; Canarian costume director Paola Domínguez; Canarian journalist Andrés Martinón; commercial department technician at CACT Elena Tejera; and Canarian writer Mare Cabrera.

A unique opportunity to get to know the professional and personal experiences of some of the most outstanding figures of this edition up close. Admission will be free until full capacity.

 

Grand Closing Gala at El Salinero

The finishing touch to this program will be the Closing Gala and Awards Ceremony of the 26th edition of the festival. On May 23rd at 8:00 PM at the emblematic Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero”, in Arrecife. The ceremony will be hosted by Emilio González and Nacho Peña, along with actress and comedian Delia Santana, who will lead a night where the official awards of this edition will be announced.

Adding the musical and artistic touch will be actress and singer, Silvia Criado; and musician and producer, Yeray Herrera, who will liven up the most anticipated film event in Lanzarote with music, and some surprises.
