The Lanzarote International Film Festival faces the last days of screenings of its twenty-first edition. The cinema screen of the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater "El Salinero" will continue to be the place where "the 63 short films competing in the five official categories: International, National, Animation, Documentary and Canary Islands Shorts" are exhibited.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote recalls that this Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22, "very high-level short films will be screened, some of which have already won awards at Canary Islands, national and international festivals". They add, "some nominated for the Oscars."
This Thursday, October 21, the Festival will screen the last passes of the Animation Sections at 6:00 p.m., National at 7:30 p.m. and International at 9:00 p.m.
The Cabildo details that in the Animation section you can enjoy titles such as "Umbrellas", by José Prats (Spain); "Ce qui Résonne Dans le Silence", by Blin Marine (France); "Re-Animal", by Rubén Garcerá (Spain); "Mula", by Mariano Benayón (Spain); "Reflejos", by Juan Carlos Mostaza (Spain); and "Roberto", by Carmen Córdoba and Rubén Garcerá (Spain), the latter selected for the Cerdanya International Film Festival and the Soria City International Short Film Competition.
On the other hand, they point out that the National Fiction Shorts section will host the screenings of "El secreto de Lucía", by Raquel Toledo (Spain), selected for the Filmera Music & Online Film Festival 2020 and the Actrum International Film Festival (AIFF); "Antes de la erupción", by Roberto Pérez Toledo from Lanzarote (Spain), selected for the Pink Love LGBT Film Festival and the Muestra cortos con Ñ Madrid; "(A) Normal", by Miguel Parra (Spain); and "Su Rider", by Alberto Utrera (Spain).
Finally, the Cabildo recalls that Thursday will conclude with the screenings of the International Fiction Shorts, which will host the screenings of "Animales", by Carlos Tampe (Chile); "Frank & Emmet", by Carlos Puertolas (USA); "Tooth", by Simon Lyashenko (Russia); and "Feeling Throught", by Doug Roland (USA), which has accumulated "42 awards in various competitions and is nominated for the 2022 Oscars."
On Friday, October 22, the last screening of the Documentary Shorts will be shown at 5:00 p.m., and the Canary Islands Shorts at 6:30 p.m., according to details from the Cabildo. Within the Documentaries you can see "Scars", by Alex Anna (Canada), awarded at the Toronto and Manitoba festivals; "Ulisses", by Jean Bové (Spain), winner of the audience award this year at ForadCamp; and "Dancing with Rosa", a film by Robert Muñoz (Spain), selected for Docs Barcelona 2021.
The Island Corporation adds that the Canary Islands Shorts will be screened from 6:30 p.m. and will be, in this order, "La Fábrica", by Isabel Coll (Spain), selected for the Portobello Film Festival 2021 (UK), the Womantime (Canary Islands Women's Film Festival 2021) and the Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastian (2021); "Casa chano", by Emilio González (Spain); "Hacia el buen vivir", by Belén B. Massieu (Spain); "Pure Energy 2101", by Francisco García (Spain), selected for Fangofest Amposta; "Lila", by Lamberto Guerra (Spain); and "Novelera", by Willy Suárez (Spain), selected for Libertas Artis.
On the other hand, also on Friday 22, "professional talks with the Jury" will take place in the same Teatro El Salinero. According to the Cabildo, Kimberley Tell, Darian Coco, Alex Zacharias, Nadia de Santiago, Daniel Jordán, Christophe Gaziello (Gazz), Imanol Uribe, Maria Pujalte, Carlos Santos and Gustavo Salmerón will take part in them.
Admission to these talks is free but, due to capacity control and anti-COVID security measures, "it will be necessary to book an online invitation in advance."
