The VIII Arrecife Classical Concerts Cycle 2024 offered the opening concert last Friday, choosing the framework of the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in Arrecife as the stage. Returning to its origins, as indicated by the manager of the Lanzarote Classical Orchestra, Roberto Fuentes, in his welcome speech. After that, he gave the floor to the writer and president of the Lanzarote Writers Association, Juan Luis Quincoces, who collaborates in this cycle dedicated to Music and Literature.

At that moment, he made a sketch of the composer Pascual Aldave and the writer Luis Martín Santos as a tribute to the centenary of their birth, ending his speech with a chosen text from his famous book Time of Silence.

Next, the concert began with the brilliant performance of the mezzo-soprano Noelia Ibáñez, accompanied on the piano by the international professor Josu Okiñena, and performing a repertoire chosen for the occasion with lyrics by authors such as San Juan de la Cruz, Federico García Lorca, Lope de Vega, Pio Baroja, Miguel de Unamuno with the link that music has with literature.

In the music, works by Mompou, Pascual Aldave, Montsalvatge, Lavilla and Falla, highlighting the interpretation of Cradle Song to Sleep a Little Black Boy, with music by Montsalvatge and lyrics by Ildefonso Perda.

The last seven songs by Manuel de Falla were the culmination of a performance of a select and exquisite repertoire and interpretation with which they delighted the public, who stood up and did not stop applauding a concert that will make history and to thank them for such a warm welcome, they rewarded them with a song by Federico García Lorca called Viva Sevilla.

The next event of the Lanzarote Classical Orchestra will be next Friday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m. at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture in Arrecife, with performances by the violinist Natacha Tchitch and the pianist Josu Okiñena.
