On Saturday night, the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé hosted the IV Teguey Festival, organized by the same popular music group and with the collaboration of the San Bartolomé City Council.

For this fourth edition, Teguey had the Parranda Chedey, which came from the municipality of Tacoronte on the island of Tenerife and was created in 2002 by a group of friends with the healthy intention of having a good time and collaborating so that traditions continue to beat as they know how to do it by singing to the Canary Islands. Also winking at Latin American song without leaving aside all those who boast to throw a good party.

Since 2002, coinciding with the Santa Catalina festivities, Chedey has been organizing the Meeting of Young Soloists, through which renowned talents of Canarian music have passed. Since its creation to the present, they have three albums to their credit. Chedey gave his best in his performance and the public responded with applause.

Teguey on this occasion had the collaboration of the young neighbor of San Bartolomé and singer Iballa González. Accompanied on the piano by Mario, she performed some pop songs that were very well received by the public, who rewarded her with applause.

The moment came to receive the organizers and hosts of the night, the 25 members of the Teguey Popular Music Group of San Bartolomé, not because it was their "IV Festival", the nerves remained backstage, but even so with the illusion of showing the work they have been doing in the rehearsal room from the first moment they gave themselves up, achieving a resounding success in their objective.

Teguey not only fulfilled its followers by carrying out the fourth edition of the festival, but also carried out the presentation of its second album entitled Myths and Legends, presented in "Pendrive" format, with songs of its own creation, some of which under the direction of the professor and musical director Leo García sounded in the night, such as Isla Imantada, Miradas de Seda, Almas Campesinas and Jardín de Leyendas, among others.

The festival also had some very emotional moments with the presentation of the Taro of Honor, the highest distinction that Teguey has with those people who stand out for preserving Canarian culture and traditions. This year this distinction went to the neighbor Francisco de León, a man hardened from a very young age who worked in the hard work of the fields helping his family planting and harvesting the fruits that the land gave him to later sell them in La Recova municipal in Arrecife with his mother. A very sacrificial life to be able to bring sustenance to the home.

He is currently 95 years old, remembering those times wrapped in the affection of the family that is devoted to being with him. For this reason, Teguey distinguished him with the Taro of Honor, which was presented to him by the president of the group José Cruz Hernández. At that same moment, the Mayor of the City Council of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, imposed the Insignia of the City Council, merging into a strong embrace.

The final touch was put by the two participating groups, Chedey and Teguey, who joined their voices to sing one of the flagship songs of Teguey entitled This is my Town, a song that has become an anthem for San Bartolomé.
