To mark the approach of the celebration of Canary Islands Day, the management of the Torrelavega Society of Culture, Sports and Recreation has been holding different cultural events since 1983, all of them related to Canarian traditions such as conferences, exhibitions, music and regional dances. Within these events, on Wednesday night a concert was given by the musical group "Calicanto".
The group, formed by about 30 women, had the collaboration of three musician friends for this concert who are always willing to lend a hand: David Luzardo with percussion, Adrián Níz on accordion and guitar and Toni Rodríguez, with the lute. "Calicanto" offered a very varied repertoire, covering genres such as bolero, ranchera or ballad, among other songs. All the songs were well known and the audience from the first moment did not stop humming them and accompanying them with clapping.
"Calicanto", since its foundation almost 5 years ago, participates in numerous festivals and solidarity events. They are the organizers of the festival "Solidarity Voices", allocating all the proceeds to charitable purposes. The audience at the concert in the S.C.R.D. Torrelavega felt that the more than 75 minutes that the group "Calicanto" was performing was not enough, and at the time of the farewell, they responded to the applause with several encores.
