The artist Edda Reents invites you to take "an optimistic tour of the world" through her pictorial exhibition Give me a smile, composed of fifty pieces. This exhibition, with a supremacy of blue, acrylic paintings and the use of recyclable material in some of her mixed works, can be enjoyed at the Benito Pérez Armas House of Culture in Yaiza until November 27th for free.
The hours to see the exhibition are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, as well as from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekends.
The art of the German painter based in Lanzarote for 31 years is characterized by her humanistic and environmental vision, and in this case, "tremendously positive, although without renouncing criticism as a contribution to help improve a planet condemned to live in war", reveals the Yaiza City Council.
"Her blues in the sea without horizons wish to transmit peace and tranquility, the fish that we find singing just above the door frame of the smallest of the three rooms that the exhibition occupies radiates joy, as does the most figurative painting that shows the faces of three smiling women", continues the southern consistory.
In some of her paintings, Edda Reents uses the meshes where potatoes or onions are packaged to harmonize her creation, sending a message of environmental awareness along the way. The smile of the sea has never been far from the painter who comes from a coastal area of northern Germany.
More than 50 people accompanied the artist last Friday at the opening ceremony of the exhibition presided over by the Councilor for Culture of Yaiza, Daniel Medina, in the presence of the honorary consul of Germany for Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, Roland Mager, and other artists from the Island such as Rufina Santana, Klaus Peter Wiegner, known as Pedro ‘de Maciot’, and Christian Honerkamp. With the exhibition ‘Give me a smile’, Yaiza closes the 2023 exhibition cycle at its House of Culture, which is preparing to undertake the municipal project of rehabilitation and improvement works.
