Celebration of the Friday of Sorrows in Macha Blanca

With the celebration of the Traditional Friday of Sorrows, the religious events in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows conclude. Celebrations that began on the 9th with the participation of the Catholic communities of the island where the praying of the Holy Rosary and the Eucharist took place every afternoon.

This Friday at 6:30 p.m., the Eucharist was celebrated outside the Sanctuary, presided over by the titular parish priest of San Roque, San Bartolomé and Rector of the Sanctuary, Francisco José García, assisted by Gabriel Rodríguez Armas, a theology student.

The faithful who came from all parts of the island came to Macha Blanca to be closer to the Virgin. After the Eucharist, the procession around the Sanctuary took place, thus ending the events in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows. The parish priest concluded by pointing out that a new course is now beginning where "we must work hard with all the groups of men and women in each of the parishes on the island".
