The folk groups of Lanzarote that participated in the Arrecife Folk Festival have delivered this Saturday an offering to the patron saint of Arrecife San Ginés Obispo. The act was presided over by the mayor, Yonathan de León Machín, who was accompanied by the first deputy mayor, Echedey Eugenio, as well as other public representatives, and was also attended by the parish priest of the Church of San Ginés Obispo, Juan Carlos Medina.
Mid-morning, the Arrecife, Acorán de Los Realejos and Nambroque de La Palma Folk Groups started a parade at Cuatro Esquinas that toured Calle Real (officially, Calle León y Castillo) and concluded at the entrance to the emblematic Puente de Las Bolas, where, amid songs, music and dances, they carried out the Offering to the Patron Saint.
Support for Tenerife
Coinciding with the presence of the Acorán de Los Realejos Folk Group, one of the municipalities affected by the devastating fire that Tenerife is suffering, Mayor Yonathan de León has expressed his support and solidarity towards its population, transmitting a message of hope and encouragement to the "brothers of Tenerife" wishing that the spread of the fire that devastates several towns on the island will soon be stopped.
The first deputy mayor and Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, has also spoken in similar terms, who also wanted to "send a message of solidarity to the entire population of Tenerife".
This year 2023 Arrecife commemorates the 225th anniversary of the founding of the parish of San Ginés Obispo and the origin of the birth of the municipality of Arrecife. For this reason, this year the municipal Offering to the Patron Saint of the capital of Lanzarote has taken place in front of the Puente de Las Bolas, one of the great historical symbols of Arrecife. The area of the Boca del Muelle has its origin with the construction of the bridge to the Commercial Pier, which dates from the beginning of the 20th century.
