Faithful to the appointment, as every year when the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen arrive, the Cultural Association Coral Polifónica Villa de Teguise offered the traditional concert in the Santo Domingo convent on Thursday night.

This year it had a very emotional and special content, dedicated to three of its members: Nieves Castillo, Ambrosio Perdomo and María Pérez, both deceased during the time of the pandemic. The event was presented by the neighbor of Teguise Miriam Hernández, very close to the cultural group, and began with the performance of the Coral Polifónica Villa de Teguise, organizer of the event.

Nuvi Tavío was in charge of directing the choir, which performed the compositions "Ay triste que vengo-Cancionero de Palacio", "Una Lagrima-Habanera" or "Nerea Izago Zen-Eusquera", among others, and which were highly applauded by the public. Then, some slides were projected with photos remembering the deceased.

Once the projection was finished, the direction of the Coral gave a photographic souvenir to the relatives present there, an act to which the Teguise City Council also joined, with the mayor Oswaldo Betancort and the Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Nori Machín, who presented some diplomas and bouquets of flowers.

The second part of the concert was enlivened by "Casual Combo Big Band", a formation that arises from the Improvisation and Modern Music classroom of the Municipal School of Teguise, formed by 19 musicians directed by Professor Ayoze Rodríguez, who performed songs by great composers such as; Herbie Hancock - Watermelon Man, I feel Good by James Brown or the famous composition by Edwin Hawkins - Oh Happy Day.

The works were performed by Julia Sosa, with impressive nuances in her voice that surprised everyone present, rewarding her performance with resounding applause. With the protocol photo, the end was put to a very emotional day, where music also had a very important space.
