The Government of the Canary Islands has agreed with Movistar + and the producers of the series 'Hierro' on a strict security protocol to resume "shortly" the filming of the second season of this successful production. El Hierro, which is one of the few places in the country that has entered Phase 2 of the de-escalation this week, thus becomes the first territory in the Archipelago to reactivate film shoots interrupted by the state of health alert.
According to the Deputy Minister of Culture and Cultural Heritage, Juan Márquez, the special conditions of the island of El Hierro, where the incidence of the pandemic has been practically nil, "allow us to face this challenge with guarantees, following, however, a long list of very demanding measures both from the point of view of the previous preparations and with respect to the development of the different phases of the filming". 'The priority -he adds- is the protection of the local population, so the tests will be carried out before and after the team's arrival on the Island".
The Government of the Canary Islands itself will be responsible for supervising these preventive measures, which include, among others, carrying out PCR tests on the entire participating team before traveling to the Canary Islands, with prior confinement in their respective homes and another period after their arrival on the Island, in which these tests will be repeated. The transfer will be carried out in an exclusive plane for the team made up of more than one hundred people, and in the established distancing conditions. Filming may begin once the results of the second test are confirmed, provided that all the rules dictated in the aforementioned protocol are complied with.
"We are convinced that the audiovisual industry can be at this time one of the sectors that can contribute the most to the economic recovery of the Canary Islands, since the many attractions it has offered in recent years are now joined by two very important aspects: the lower incidence of the pandemic compared to the rest of the peninsular territories, and the increase in our tax incentives for filming, which currently reach up to 50 percent deduction, positioning us at the head of Europe in this matter and I would even dare to say worldwide", Márquez pointed out.
