The Cabildo welcomes the month of June with an extensive cultural program

Music, cinema, art, theater, workshops or shows for the little ones of the house make up the offer of events

Alexis Lemes, Javier Infante, and Javier Colina

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has once again designed for the month of June a "varied and extensive" calendar of cultural events. The Culture area of the Corporation, coordinated by Councilor Alberto Aguiar, has programmed an agenda dominated, by number of shows, by music and cinema, but in which there is also room for art, theater or family shows.

The musical offer will begin with the celebration of the 7th Encuentro de Timples de La Graciosa. The eighth island will host the concerts of David Rodríguez “El Majorero” and Josele del Pino, which will take place on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5, respectively. Both recitals will be in the Church of Carmen, in Caleta del Sebo. Admission will be free, but due to capacity limitations and anti-Covid protocol, it is necessary to reserve a place by calling the Municipal Office of La Graciosa, at 928 842 000.

David Rodríguez 'El Majorero'

On Saturday, June 12, the Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero” will host the concert offered by the timple player Alexis Lemes and the guitarist Javier Infante, accompanied by the double bass player Javier Colina. Colina is one of the most famous double bass players in Spain and Europe, a collaborator among others of musicians such as Chucho Valdés, Diego El Cigala or Enrique Morente. The result of the union of these three talents will be a performance that fuses jazz, with the avant-garde and root music.

At the end of the month, on June 26, again the Teatro El Salinero will host a concert. It will be, in this case, that of Bohemia Lanzarote, who will offer the show “The Language of the Gods”, a recital in which the Lanzarote group led by Juanma Padrón will present new themes, with new styles and sounds, away from their usual line. For this they will have numerous guests, among which are Maru Cabrera, Jessica Abu, Badel Albelo, Maite Salgueiro, Airam Villegas, Jairo Cabrera, Alex Jiménez and Willy Morales.

'Taro', by Isabel Cabrera, Acoraida Cabrera and Alejandro Cabrera

And at the beginning of July, exactly on the 1st and 3rd, the Centro Insular de Enseñanzas Musicales (CIEM) will stage its musical “Desolvido”, a proposal developed by the center itself and by Ubai T. Alemán. This musical, suitable for the whole family, tells the story of four young people from a future, dark and pessimistic world, who have forgotten the essence of life and happiness. These four boys and girls realize in their search that one of the things that has disappeared from that world is music. It will be in the Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero”.

Speaking of family shows, on Saturday, June 5, you can see, again at the Teatro “El Salinero”, the show “Taro”, a proposal by the narrator Isabel Cabrera, the singer Acoraida Cabrera and the musician Alejandro Cabrera. The three make in “Taro” a review of the history of Lanzarote through the senses: the image, the voice and the music will be the protagonists of this trip to the interior of the Island of Volcanoes, with which it is intended to pay tribute to our most illustrious artist, César Manrique, but it is also born with the aim of looking back and delving into the traditions and idiosyncrasies of the island.
