Next June, the third edition of the audiovisual event Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote will be held, organized by SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote and FesTVal (Television Festival). The renewal of the collaboration agreement was signed this Thursday morning in Arrecife with the presence of Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and Joseba Fiestras, director of FesTVal, who agreed in highlighting the "importance of consolidating this event at a time of expansion and transformation of the audiovisual sector".
This edition will once again have Arrecife as the main venue and will be aimed at both the professional sector and the general public. The program will include round tables, training workshops, screenings, meetings with prominent faces from national television, and the FesTVal Lanzarote Awards Gala, which will be held on Saturday, June 27.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that “this festival fits perfectly with the tourism model we are betting on: diverse, sustainable, and cross-cutting. We are betting on culture and the audiovisual industry as engines of economic development and qualified job creation. It is not just about attracting visitors, but about attracting talent, investment, and opportunities for our youth”.
Betancort added that Lanzarote aspires to consolidate itself as “a territory that hosts major events, but also as a destination where the creative industry finds stability, projection, and a unique environment to develop”.
As director, Joseba Fiestras highlighted that “Lanzarote is the ideal setting for audiovisual workshops that continue to grow edition after edition. We are not only consolidating the project on the island, but we are taking another step towards making Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote the major professional event for the audiovisual sector in the Canary Islands”.
For his part, the CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, emphasized the strategic value of the event within the destination's external promotion roadmap, stating that “Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote is not just a cultural event, it is a positioning tool. It allows us to link the Lanzarote brand with creativity, innovation, and talent, connecting with a professional profile that generates recommendations, content, and opportunities”.
Fernández added that “the combination of industry, talent, and territory makes the island an ideal space for real networking, project generation, and the creation of lasting synergies among industry professionals”. “The audiovisual industry not only represents a clear path for economic diversification for the island, but it generates direct impact on the destination, builds medium and long-term relationships with production companies, networks, and platforms, therefore, the objective is for Lanzarote to be perceived, in addition to as a place to film, as a territory where to create, invest, and develop projects,” concluded Fernández.
