The César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport hosts, from this Monday and until January 18, 2020, the exhibition of ceramics A Thousand Years of Grinding by the Favorite Son of the island, Juan Brito Martín, which can be visited in the exhibition hall of Terminal 2.

The exhibition, which is held to commemorate the centenary of his birth, is composed of 25 works of ceramics and wood and shows the emotions of the artist who in his creative process worked with the vital essence of the four basic elements: earth, water, fire and air.

Juan Brito was born on December 10, 1919 in the municipality of Tinajo and had very multifaceted concerns, transmitting throughout his life the deepest roots of his people through his recognized facets as a folklorist, ceramist, researcher, historian and self-taught archaeologist.

He found the essence of the human being through the observation of nature, so he left an imprint difficult to erase. He was a shepherd and farmer and despite primary studies, he had the ability to rescue the ancestral vestiges of the culture and history of Lanzarote and contributed to the dissemination and conservation of the island's heritage.
