The Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture closes for maintenance work

The "Agustín de la Hoz" House of Culture closed its doors to the public last Monday for the execution of maintenance works on its walls. According to the City Council, agreement workers are currently scraping the paint lifted by humidity and restoring it with insulating materials.

From the Consistory they affirm that "the proximity to the coast has a devastating effect on the walls that support the works of art and on the general appearance of the interior of the historic building, which is visited by hundreds of tourists and school excursions, in addition to hosting cultural activities of all kinds."

As explained by the Councilor for Culture of the Arrecife City Council, Jimena Álvarez, "the maintenance of the rooms must be constant." "But especially in this year of César's centenary, we want to show an "Agustín de la Hoz" House of Culture in perfect condition," she added.

Despite the closure to the public of the exhibition spaces, the administrative offices of the Department remain "at full capacity", as does the tourist information point, which has independent access. As for the exhibition spaces, the City Council affirms that they will be operational "in the coming days"
