The history of the Rancho de Pascuas of Teguise continues to be written steadily. This Tuesday, the church of the Villa hosted a new audiovisual recording that will be integrated into the documentation and dissemination project undertaken at the beginning of the year, under the direction of the musician and producer Nino Díaz. This initiative has the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and the Teguise City Council.
The main purpose of the project is to document, preserve, and disseminate one of the most deeply rooted traditions of Lanzarote. The Rancho de Pascuas, a living symbol of the island's cultural heritage, has endured thanks to the commitment of generations of residents who have kept it active to this day.
Following the recording of an album in early 2025, the project is now advancing with the production of audiovisual material and the work of a team of expert musicologists. They will be responsible for the analysis and transcription of the traditional lyrics that make up the historical repertoire of the Rancho. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2026, with a public presentation at the end of that same year.
Adrián Villalba, president of the Rancho de Pascuas, expressed his gratitude to all members of the group and to the collaborating institutions. "This is the first step so that everything is documented and the new generations can learn about and continue this ancestral tradition of the Villa de Teguise," he said.
For his part, Nino Díaz stressed the importance of the project as a legacy for Lanzarote and the Canary Islands. "From the moment it was proposed to us, we did not hesitate. Behind this work there are many professionals contributing talent and commitment so that, when it is presented, it reflects the collective effort and remains as a heritage reference."
The organization also thanked the parish priest of Teguise, Don Juan Manuel, for opening the doors of the church for this significant recording.
