The Tías City Council presented this Friday the poster for the festivities in honor of the municipality's patron saint, Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria, with a program organized by the Festival Commission and sponsored by the City Council. From January 26 to February 5, 48 events will take place, including performances by Shaila Durcal, Manolo Vieira and Pepe Benavente.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the Councilor for Festivities, Sergio García, presented this Friday the general poster for the La Candelaria and San Blas festivities and encouraged citizens to participate in the events, which are aimed at all audiences with parades, frying, night race, wrestling, children's shows, pilgrimage, folklore and religious events.
Proclamation by Dulce Delgado
The festivities will begin, as every year, with the envite championship, but its launch will take place on January 26 at 8:30 p.m. in the Church of La Candelaria with the reading of the proclamation by Dulce Nombre Delgado Morín. Adrián Niz, José Vicente Pérez and Pedro Manuel Afonso (guitar, timple and voice) will perform.
The program includes the expected date with folklore in the XIV Canarian Candelaria Tenderete, which will take place on Saturday, January 28, at the Sociedad Unión Sur de Tías under the organization of the Gaida association. Gaida, Altaja and Lagar (Teseguite) and Los Paperos de Valleseco (Gran Canaria) will perform.
On Sunday there will be a pilgrimage from the hermitage of San Antonio to the Plaza de La Candelaria and senior Canarian wrestling between the CLUS Tías and CL Tetir teams in the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez Municipal Terrero. Also noteworthy are the parade and the popular verbena with El Golpito and Pepe Benavente on February 1, the performance of Shaila Durcal on Thursday, February 2, and that of the humorist Manolo Vieira on Friday, February 3.
