Residente dedicates his concert at Lava Live Fest to the people of Palestine

For their part, Orishas sang their classics with a Caribbean flavor in the Agramar venue

With a Palestinian flag over his shoulders, Residente, the star of the first day of concerts at Lava Live Fest, drew attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and dedicated his music "to a people that is being extinguished and to a population that resists." The Puerto Rican rapper, recognized and admired throughout the world for his enormous talent and the coherence of his values, offered in Arrecife a repertoire of songs focused on solidarity and denouncing injustice, such as "Guerra", "El aguante", "This is not America" or "Latinoamérica". In addition, to the delight of a heterogeneous and intergenerational audience, he included some of the mythical songs of Calle 13 such as "No hay nadie como tú", "Cumbia de los aburridos" or "Atrévete".

Throughout a recital that lasted for about an hour and a half and that met all the expectations of the thousands of people attending, Residente invited the public to put away their mobiles - "that's what they see on YouTube" - to enjoy life and to always try to do what you love.

Previously, the Cuban band Orishas brought Caribbean warmth and color to the afternoon, with a live show full of hits and nods to the island communities of Lanzarote and Cuba, such as "Hay un son", "Atrevido", "Mística", "537 Cuba" or "Havana 1957", which Yotuel Romero performed with his wife, the Spanish singer Beatriz Luengo. A particularly emotional moment was the invitation to the public to sing "La flaca", by Jarabe de Palo, "the most beautiful song made to a Cuban woman", to whose composer, Pau Donés, he paid tribute.

The first afternoon of Lava Live Fest began at five o'clock with the opening of the doors and the progressive arrival of the attendees, enlivened by the mixes of Renzzo El Selector. Around seven o'clock, the Canarian Ptazeta took to the stage with her urban trap, when people had already occupied the front rows of the area in front of the stage and the general area. And between concerts, the local DJ Carlos Chavaud officiated as entertainer.

Along with the quality of the musical offer, the climate allied with Lava Live Fest with the relief of a layer of high clouds and the trade wind breeze, which cooled the high temperatures. The distribution of bars and catering stalls throughout the venue also contributed to the fact that long queues did not form at any time.

Maná, the most awaited date

The session on Saturday, June 14 is one of the most awaited by the public of Lava Live Fest, including the concert of the Mexican band Maná, in a historic event for Lanzarote. The most rock-oriented afternoon of the four days will begin at six o'clock with the performance of the Lanzarote band Drûpe. At half past seven it will be the turn of the Valencian band Los Zigarros, who will warm up as a luxury opening act for the expected Maná, who will take the stage at half past nine at night. The animation between recitals will be executed by DJ Ángel Pérez.
