Lanzarote native Quino Falero will be the artistic director of the Performing Arts Festival of the Tourist Centers, Escena Lanzarote. As he did in 2019, the Lanzarote creator returns to take the helm of an event that, like many others in the artistic field, was suspended during the pandemic years.
Falero explained that "Escena Lanzarote aims to offer a high-quality program around the contemporary creation of the Performing Arts in the unique spaces of Lanzarote." The creator pointed out that "the program of this edition has the universal language as its hallmark: they are shows in which the language is not an obstacle." "We have focused on dance because it is a discipline that has traditionally had less visibility because it is a language that adapts to the philosophy of the Festival and because dance proposals in our Community have a lot of quality." The stage director of Escena Lanzarote has also hinted that this next edition the Festival "opens to the Teatro El Salinero, since we intend the Festival to also have an anchor point in the main theater of Lanzarote."
For his part, the CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, explained that the director of Escena Lanzarote "is synonymous with work, creativity and success. We incorporate the talent of a Lanzarote native with a broad, solid and recognized career to plan, organize and execute an event that presents a top-level program aimed at all audiences."
Quino Falero has a long career in the national backstage, either in the stage direction of proposals such as "La lista de mis deseos", "Todo es mentira", "Pánico", "Los amores diversos" and "Locos por el té", among many others; either as co-director of "El veneno del teatro" and "Soy lo prohibido, Cabaret", for example; or as deputy director and assistant director in "Los Gemelos", "Don Juan Tenorio", "El método Grönholm", "Donde pongo la cabeza" and "Gran Vía esquina Alcalá". In addition, he has been the director of television programs such as "En otra clave" and "Esto es muy serio". He is also the creator and director of the 1st edition of the Performing Arts Festival of the Tourist Centers.
Escena Lanzarote 2022
One of the principles of the thinking that inspired the artist César Manrique was the harmony between nature and the work of art. With that same spirit, a festival is articulated that will unite the stages of his creations through scenic proposals of universal language.
Escena Lanzarote, with a program that will start next October and will last until March 2023, redoubles its commitment to the talent of the Canary Islands companies and places special emphasis on projects aimed at all audiences.
Among the proposals already confirmed are those of Nova galega danza; the dance companies of Natalia Medina and María Juncal (flamenco); Gestionarte and the exciting Pieles, among others.
