More than 40,000 people attend the III Livestock, Fisheries and Agricultural Fair of Teguise

Saturday, June 8, stood out for its wide variety of activities, starting with educational workshops for the youngest, gastronomic demonstrations and equestrian exhibitions and theatrical performances, among others.

More than 40,000 people attended the III Livestock, Fisheries and Agricultural Fair of Teguise, which took place from last Thursday, June 6, to this Sunday, June 9, at the Agroindustrial complex of Teguise.

During the event, the municipality of Teguise became the epicenter of the primary sector of Lanzarote with more than a hundred educational activities, tastings, musical performances, demonstrations and presentations by experts, among other actions to promote the local product and highlight the identity of the local sector.

The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, thanked all the institutions, associations and professionals who attended the event. "Thanks to the celebration of the fair, we have managed to place the municipality on the island and regional map of the primary sector," she said.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, congratulated both the City Council of Teguise and all the people who attended the Fair for "supporting the primary sector of the island." In addition, he pointed out that all institutions will strengthen the potential of this sector and correct the weaknesses it is going through.

"The Fair was a resounding success among citizens and in the response of the primary sector. We must focus on achieving a positive sector that generates employment in Lanzarote," added the president.

A hundred activities to bring the primary sector closer to the population

The event was inaugurated on Thursday, June 6, with an emotional tribute to the young and old people of the primary sector, followed by a toast and a musical performance that marked the beginning of the activities.

The second day began with the visit of different school groups, who participated in activities such as milking livestock and educational workshops. During the afternoon it was the turn of the elderly, who had the opportunity to take guided tours, tastings and exhibitions. Friday culminated with a talk about the Palmera goat and the traditional Noche de Parrandas.

Saturday, June 8, stood out for its wide variety of activities, starting with animal contests and educational workshops for the youngest. There were also gastronomic demonstrations and equestrian exhibitions, as well as presentations on agriculture and livestock, among others. The day concluded with theatrical performances, an animal auction and musical performances.

On Sunday, June 9, tastings of local products, family workshops and culinary demonstrations were held. Also, horse and milking contests were held, as well as other training on the primary sector.

Likewise, Saborea Lanzarote had its own stand throughout the weekend, where they offered the public different activities and gastronomic tastings that added value to Lanzarote products, among which the traditional tuna cutting, known as Ronqueo, stands out.

The event came to an end with several cheese and wine tastings, an ox dragging exhibition and the awards ceremony for the different livestock and agricultural contests held during the Fair.
