The Cabildo de Lanzarote has announced the nominees for the 'VI Sports Gala' for this year. The jury that has awarded these awards is chaired by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, and also has other representatives of the Government group of the Island Council, the municipalities of the island, technicians from the Island Sports Service and the island media.
Among all the proposals submitted, the following nominees were chosen: in the category of men's individual sporting achievement, the nominees are Saúl Coco (football), Hecher Sosa (MMA) and Raúl Hernández (rally). In the category of women's individual sporting achievement, the nominees are Amalie Skiba (karate), Kennedy Hope Denby (swimming) and Virginia Morales (Latin sailing).
In the category of men's collective sporting achievement, the nominees are Miguel Ángel Morales and Alejandro Martín (sailing), Club de Fútbol San Bartolomé (football), Relevos 4x100 Club de Atletismo ADAL (athletics). In the category of women's collective sporting achievement, the nominees are Club Balonmano Zonzamas (handball), C.B. Puerto del Carmen infantil (handball) and Gabriela Cañibano and Ariadne Muñoz (sailing).
Likewise, the jury decided to award the 'Human Values' award to Antonio Sierra (basketball); the 'Quarry Work' award to the Club de Piragüismo Marlines de Lanzarote; the 'Research Award' to Casimiro Tejera; the 'Sports Legend Award' to Lolina Curbelo; the 'Sports Promotion Award' to Marina Rubicón; and the 'Native Sports Award' to the Club Deportivo de Lucha Tinajo.
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, congratulates all the nominees and winners and wishes them the "best of luck" for their personal sports projects.
