Las Vacilonas fill El Salinero Theater with carnival atmosphere

Drag Avalon and singer Chucho Gómez also participated in the presentation gala, along with Lanzarote Baila.

Las Vacilonas Murga Presentation

El Salinero Theater was filled with a carnival atmosphere for the second consecutive night with the presentation of the murga Las Vacilonas.

The gala, hosted by José Duarte, began with the singer "Chucho Gómez" who performed several salsa rhythms typical of these festivities. He also had the participation of the public who accompanied him in the refrains. During his performance, he was supported by three couples of young dancers, students of the "Lanzarote Baila" Dance School, directed by professor Miguel Medina. The young people surprised with their spectacular choreographies that were highly applauded by the attendees.

Later, "Drag Avalon" took the stage, who, with a spectacular fantasy and accompanied by four dancers, thrilled with the impressive acrobatics and choreographies of a very well-crafted show. The drag will participate in the Drag gala in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Without a doubt, the most emotional moment of the night occurred when the announcer and presenter, Francisco José Navarro, took the stage where he was received by the president and director Marta Ruíz and the lyricist Yeray Bajera to officially present him with the trophy that bears his name. The award will be given next year to the murga with the most "magic". The audience stood and applauded Navarro, who very emotionally thanked them "for so much affection and respect during so many years, I will not be able to repay this debt for many years to come."

Later came the performance of "Las Vacilonas", who after several months of uncertainty decided to unite and participate in a decaffeinated Carnival pending the ups and downs produced by Covid. Las Vacilonas celebrate their IX anniversary this year. For the occasion, they wear a fantasy called "To scare away evil, we have come to this Carnival", designed by Gladys Fuentes and Toño Aparicio. The group currently has 35 members, less than in other years due to Covid.

The musical performance began with a lively parade and later they sang "Supervisors", the title of the only song they were able to finish this year. Its lyrics give a good review to politicians, in which they criticized the lack of parks and lighting, the lack of control with immigration, the precariousness in healthcare with waiting lists, and so on a long list of issues.

With the interpretation of the anthem, the end point was put to a dream that despite the adversities could come true, participating in the Carnival.

Among the spectators were the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, councilors and councilors of the Arrecife City Council.
