Last weekend the first Vinopoetry Festival was held in Rioja Alavesa. This initiative comes from an idea by Ignacio Romero (Senderismo Lanzarote) and Elisa Rueda, where an expedition from Lanzarote visited three wineries, starting with Cosme Palacio.
This involved a cultural, poetic, musical and oenological exchange. Among them, with the participation of the musician and poet from Lanzarote, Domingo Corujo, who was in charge of opening the conference with an interesting presentation on the evolution of the timple and the guitar and how to play pieces with both instruments.
Another section of the festival was dedicated to the tasting of wines from the Cosme Palacio and El Grifo wineries in Lanzarote, which have taken place in different areas of the winery. After this, moving on to the section dedicated to poetry, which included the participation of poets from Alava and the Canary Islands and whose content was related to viticulture. At that moment the poets enjoyed tasting the wines in different corners of the winery.
It is worth highlighting from this first Vinopoetry Festival the kindness, sympathy and the endearing treat carried out during the stay in Rioja Alavesa, where a hiking route was also carried out among vineyards.
By the end of this month, the expedition made up of Basque poets, musicians and representatives of the wineries will arrive in Lanzarote to visit different wineries in Lanzarote and get to know La Geria, the route of the Canary wines.
