The performance took place this Monday in Valterra Park

"La Peña" of San Bartolomé

The family of the folk group "La Peña" from San Bartolomé also had the opportunity to participate in the "Isleña Christmas". It was on Monday night in Valterra Park, before a very dedicated audience that supported them during their performance with resounding applause.

"La Peña" was musically directed by Professor Tony Rodríguez, who was in charge of choosing a very varied repertoire with traditional Christmas carols deeply rooted in the town of San Bartolomé, such as "Enmanuel", "Alegría Alegría", "En las pajas de un establo" and "Venid Pastorcillos", which were interspersed between the notes of the folías, seguidillas and malagueña. In addition, they had the participation of the dance corps directed by Raúl de León, which was undoubtedly one of the most applauded and photographed moments of the night.

The folk group La Peña de San Bartolomé was founded in 1994 by Pedro de León, a lover and great defender of the Canarian traditions and who was a member of the mythical and always remembered group "Ajei" from San Bartolomé. The members of the folk group "La Peña" currently wear the typical clothing of Lanzarote; the same one that the Ajei group wore until its disappearance.

"Isleña Christmas" continues to bring Canarian songs and dances to all corners of Lanzarote to brighten these holidays and for the different cultural groups to leave their rehearsal rooms and go on stage.
