Puerto del Carmen will be the setting throughout the month of October for the SunSet Festival Lleno de Música, an initiative financed by the Canary Islands Government with the involvement of the Business Federation of the province of Las Palmas and the Lanzarote Tourist Federation (FTL). There will be more than ten free performances and the headlining group will be La Oreja de Van Gogh, who will perform on October 11 at 9 p.m. in the Plaza del Varadero.
“We are collaborating with a festival that aims to boost the commercial areas of tourist areas, but is also aimed at the residents of the municipality. Thanks to the business association for believing in the municipality of Tías and for allowing citizens to access these musical projection events,” said the mayor, José Juan Cruz, during the presentation.
The president of the FETL, Susana Pérez, highlighted the suitability of holding this festival during the month of October, after the events and performances of the summer season, as one of the measures that the Canary Islands Government is promoting to strengthen the economic recovery. “This festival is part of the lines that were pending execution to minimize the serious impact of covid restrictions on the tourism sector, in restaurants, hotels, commerce and leisure,” she added.
Concerts from October 6
The representative of the musical production company responsible for the festival, Raúl Rivero, detailed the program of this event, which will begin on October 6, and encouraged businessmen, merchants, residents and visitors to promote consumption. “Given that the performances are free, we must promote consumption so that it reverts to the general economy, from which we all benefit,” he said.
The program begins on October 6 at 9 p.m. in the Plaza del Varadero, Puerto del Carmen, with a gala connected with the recent celebration of World Tourism Day, which will be recorded for broadcast on Televisión Canaria Rtvc and will feature performances by Cantadores, Tamara, Shaila Durcal and Diana Navarro.
On Friday, October 6 at 9 p.m. in the Plaza del Varadero, a musical tribute to ColdPlay will be offered by the group Paradise; and on Saturday, October 8, the internationally renowned Canarian singer Cristina Ramos will perform in the Plaza del Varadero.
For Monday, October 10, at 9 p.m. in the Plaza del Varadero, the performance of the group Salvapantallas has been planned, which will offer a tribute to different artists from the national sphere.
The stellar performance of La Oreja de Van Gogh will take place on October 11 at 9 p.m. in the Plaza del Varadero. In addition, the commercial areas of Puerto del Carmen will be revitalized on later dates with the Artistas del Gremio band.
