Last Friday night, environmental biologist and writer Ignacio Javier Romero Perera presented his first novel 'Ana Viciosa-La señora de Tinajo'. A publication based on a historical figure from the Tinajo region, whom he has been portraying on his hiking routes for over twenty years. The presentation took place at the Tinajo Municipal Theater with the allowed capacity fully occupied.

The novel begins with an interesting prologue by José de León Hernández, Doctor in History and archaeologist, popularly known among his people as 'Pepe el Uruguayo'. In his introduction, he describes Ana Viciosa as the only daughter of a Moorish mother and the Lord of the island, who acquires freedom by marrying Juan de León Munguía. The novel also features the valuable collaboration of María Dolores Rodríguez Armas, historian and director of the Municipal Archive of Teguise, exposing the historical approach in the times of Don Agustín de Herrera y Rojas.

Ignacio Javier Romero bases his novel on a real character from the Tinajo region who impacted the society of the time with such force that even today it survives in the collective memory of the inhabitants of the area. Ana Viciosa, a woman of power with a unique personality who took the reins of her life in an era where men, injustice, and inequality dominated.

The presentation of the novel began with the participation of the Pueblo Maho Cultural Association sounding long tones of conch shells. The event continued with the performance of the Theater Company that staged a piracy performance. Subsequently, the author broke down part of the inspiration process that led him to write this novel, sharing a dialogue with José de León, analyzing between them the character of Ana Viciosa and the historical context of the novel.

In addition, the prestigious Lanzarote musician Domingo Corujo, the creator of the famous tail guitar, intervened, performing several musical compositions while giving way to the reading of different passages of the novel. Finally, the music returned, but this time from the hand of the singer Elvia Plata, who was accompanied on the piano by Professor Melba Artiles.

The event ended with the signing of books by the author who gratefully thanked the public, very excited, for the welcome, supporting him on such an important day for him.
