The family of the Malpaís de la Corona Folk Group of the municipality of Haría, celebrated its XIX Festival last Friday night in the Haría square, an "Incomparable Setting", with a very pleasant climate, which allowed the numerous public that completed the capacity to enjoy an evening marked by the traditions of regional songs and dances.
In each call, Malpaís de la Corona, surprises its followers not only with its songs, dances and invited groups, but also every year, the festival has the mission to put on stage, customs and traditions many of them forgotten, with the purpose that the new generations know them and also make them their own.
This year the chosen theme was called "Old Courtships", which included the different ways in which young couples were exposed when dating their loved one. In a context where everything was very limited and in which the mother played a very important role, becoming a watchman of her daughters when their boyfriends arrived home controlling every movement, if she had to conquer through the window or door post and if the date occurred inside the house.
Malpaís de la Corona began the XIX Festival in the middle of the street with a serenade where an improvised parranda serenaded a young woman who, upon hearing the musical chords, looked out the window thus demonstrating her gratitude. Immediately afterwards, the bodies of touch and dance took the stage to perform the most traditional songs and dances of Canarian folklore, which were highly applauded by the public.
One more year, the group that has taken care of the smallest detail, surprised with powerful and very tuned voices to which the dancers joined with spectacular choreographies and turns. With hardly any time for rest, after their performance, there were also a few minutes for anecdotes and good humor that with much suspicion took the helm of them.
The member of Malpaís, Santi Ramírez, gave way to the guests with whom they shared the stage in this edition the Raíces de Cenicientos Folk Group of Madrid, created in 1983 with the purpose of collecting the songs and dances that were sung and danced in the town during the various annual festivities, transmitting it to the youngest with the purpose that the "Coruchas" and "Cenicientos" roots are not lost.
Located between the provinces of Toledo and Ávila, so they also collect musical influences from both Castillas, some of their most representative dances that they offered to the public were the "Jotas de Curucha" and the "Picadillo", among others, with a dance body formed by young components that surprised by the colorfulness of their costumes and choreographies in constant movement with much showiness while elegant.
One more year the family of Malpaís de la Corona after so much effort and work achieved their goal with flying colors, being recognized by the numerous public that sheltered them with their presence and applause.
