The Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores hosted the visit of the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise at 1:00 p.m. this Sunday, framed in the Island Christmas program.
The Eucharist was presided over by the parish priest of Tinajo and Rector of the Sanctuary, Francisco José García, and was celebrated with the Sanctuary's allowed capacity full, and many even stayed outside in the vicinity to follow the celebration of the Eucharist. After the mass, the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise performed, beginning with the masterful entrance interpreting the "Corrido", which was highly applauded during the tour to the Main Altar, later continuing with "Desechas" and "Pascuas".
And so that the largest number of public could see "El Salto", the parish priest moved with the image of the Child Jesus to the portico of the Sanctuary where the dance that has no lyrics, is only music, took place. The shepherds perform it while playing the tambourines and approaching the Child Jesus for the ceremony of adoration and to be able to do the kissing of the feet.
The rich tradition of our Ranchos de Pascuas is lived by its members as an important heritage in their lives. Each year, adults and young people, to the sound of their peculiar instruments, make the foundations of history vibrate with the same lyrics that the folklorists of our villages sang years ago.
