“Collective effort has turned Saborea Lanzarote into a leading model for the island's economy”

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, inaugurated this Monday morning, at the La Florida winery, in San Bartolomé, the 'Inspiring Dialogues' conference, organized by 'Saborea Lanzarote' together with Euro-Toques, an international organization of chefs that integrates more than 3,500 chefs from 18 countries, and which was founded in 1986 by Pierre Romeyer, Paul Bocuse, Juan Mari Arzak and Pedro Subijana among other illustrious chefs, with the aim of defending the European culinary heritage.

Oswaldo Betancort thanked in his speech for the work done by the people who participated last November in the enogastronomic festival 'Saborea Lanzarote' which "has become, thanks to the collective effort, a leading and inspiring model for the island's economy, and the epicenter of gastronomy and kilometer zero products." 'Inspiring Dialogues', which has been developed during the morning and afternoon of this Monday, February 19, with a large presence of representatives from the primary and business sectors of the island, is a day of reflection and inspiration with the whole family that has made 'Saborea Lanzarote' possible and whose sole purpose is to share knowledge and experiences to continue strengthening Lanzarote as a gastronomic destination that values and pampers the product of the land.

"This initiative aims to continue deepening, as the president of the Cabildo pointed out in his speech, our commitment to the primary sector, the tertiary sector, the distribution sector and the restaurants of the island to seek synergies that improve this model of economic management, and that is why I want to congratulate all those present for contributing and enriching this project."

The president of the Cabildo had affectionate words for Mayre Modrego, manager of Euro-Toques, "with whom Saborea Lanzarote has maintained a relationship of 15 years." "Mayre, a conejera by adoption, has shown from the beginning an tireless enthusiasm in the construction of this project," said Betancort.

After the speech of the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the manager of Euro-Toques, the conference began with the presentation 'Building the future' by José María Cervera, a law graduate and member of the management committee of Makro in Spain and the Netherlands, and president of the Food Service Institute.

Subsequently, there was an interesting round table discussion led by José María Cervera, with the participation of Andoni Luis Aduriz, president in Spain of Euro-Toques and with two Michelin stars, Maca de Castro, Chef and owner of the restaurant that bears his name, with one Michelin star and 3 suns from the Repsol Guide, Vanessa Arrocha, Personal Leadership coach in the gastronomy sector, Francisco Barona, oenologist and owner of Bodegas Francisco Barona in the Ribera del Duero and Neftalí Acosta, creator in 2011 of the 'Liquid Sounds' festival, a festival that combines music, landscape and enogastronomy.

Finally, all attendees were able to taste some of the elaborations of the island's gastronomy, with products from the land, and in the incomparable landscape of La Geria in which the La Florida winery is located.
