The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival and 'Words on the Fly' give way to an extensive program

The Cabildo has announced the cultural agenda for the month of October with activities in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The highest island institution assures that it is "a wide variety of artistic events will fill this month with unique and enriching cultural expressions." Among the most outstanding events are the celebration of the 18th Edition of the Visual Music Festival and the 11th of the Palabras al Vuelo Festival.

Jesús Machín Tavío, Minister of Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, expressed his enthusiasm for “the diversity and quality of the cultural offer for this month that reflects our commitment to the promotion of culture and art on our island. We invite all residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the richness of artistic expression that awaits us this month.”

Storytelling Festival "Words on the Fly" October 5 to 15 

Listening to a story is understanding the world and reflecting on others. The Storytelling Festival "Words on the Fly" returns to offer a rich diversity of oral narration shows for adults and special programming for families. Oral narration invites us to learn, imagine and connect.

Lanzarote Visual Music Festival October 10 to 21 

The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival celebrates its new edition, merging avant-garde musical proposals with diverse artistic languages in the impressive natural spaces of the island. An event that has attracted renowned contemporary musicians and that consolidates Lanzarote as a high-level cultural destination.

Exhibitions

A countdown by Víctor G. Moreno, October 5 to January 13. The artistic installation "A countdown" by Víctor G. Moreno immerses us in a poetic system of geographic coordinates. It explores the vital experience in three crucial points for the artist and architect Bárbara Müller: Barcelona, Lanzarote and Patagonia.

Metamorphosis of coordinates by Bárbara Müller, October 5 to January 13. Another fascinating artistic installation, Metamorphosis of coordinates by Bárbara Müller, takes us on a poetic journey through geographic coordinates and their relationship with the vital experience in different territories.

Night walker by Juan Méndez, October 14 to December 2. A fascinating series of photographs by Juan Méndez that immerses us in nocturnal landscapes of great strength and beauty in the Canary Archipelago and Argentine Patagonia. Intimate portraits that contrast with the immensity of the landscape.

Theater

Taboo States by Salvador Leal, October 6 and 7 at 8:00 p.m. Drama, comedy and intrigue merge in this unique play that raises awareness about mental health and the importance of considering it as a collective aspect. A scenographic work conceived after understanding the experiences and perspectives of the users of the Mental Health Association El Criba.

"Resonances of the other self", October 5 to January 13. The scenic production workshop "Resonances of the other self" offers a unique experience to explore the "Art of Action" and the connection with the family past. Participants create "art objects" that are integrated into an emotional piece of performative theater.

Workshops

Origami Workshop with María Arrebola, October 9 to 11. The artist María Arrebola offers a succulent traditional modular origami workshop, exploring the multiple creative possibilities of paper. Participants will learn the basic knowledge of this technique and its application in artistic projects.

Linocut Workshop without a press with Ico Mosquera, October 25 to 27. The plastic artist Ico Mosquera teaches an interesting workshop focused on approaching the multiple creative possibilities of the different linocut or relief engraving techniques. Various artistic processes related to this technique will be explored.

Music

Joyce Moreno at the Tensamba Festival, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. The singer, Brazilian composer and instrumentalist Joyce Moreno performs at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium as part of the Tensamba Festival, celebrating Brazilian culture.

Guiguan - Infante Lemes Colina Trio, October 29. In La Graciosa, the musical trio presents their first record, offering an encounter between island tradition, contemporary music and jazz.

Dance

Masdanza 2023, October 27 at 8:00 p.m. The International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands, Masdanza, returns to Lanzarote with a careful selection of companies from various countries. A unique opportunity to enjoy contemporary dance in a special environment.

"The cat who wanted to change history", October 28 at 6:00 p.m. A brilliant dance, puppet and visual show for the whole family, based on a Hindu story that explores friendship and collaboration between different creatures of nature.

Lanzarote Literature Festival

Andrés Neuman, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Lanzarote Literature Festival presents Andrés Neuman, a prominent Hispanic-Argentine narrator, poet, translator and columnist. An event that brings together diverse literary voices in the unique setting of the island.

Perifest Illustration Festival and cinema

From October 18 to 21. Perifest is an innovative festival that revolves around illustration and graphic arts. With presentations and workshops given by renowned creators, this event culminates with an art market.

Creatura by Elena Martín, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. and October 5 at 8:30 p.m. A risky and dazzling work that explores the psychological complexity of a woman victim of sexual repression.

The saint of the impossible by Marc Raymond Wilkins, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. and October 26 at 8:30 p.m. A poetic socio-political story that deconstructs the American dream through the life of Latin American twins.

A Woman of Paris by Charles Chaplin, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. A masterpiece of silent cinema directed by Charles Chaplin, commented on and analyzed in a colloquium by the essayist and filmmaker Lluís Galter.
