CEIP César Manrique Cabrera presented on the morning of this Friday, February 9, the project 'Carnival in Family', a multidisciplinary work that has involved the 9 levels and 21 groups of the school during the last weeks under the coordination of the music teacher Antonio Monzón. Starting from the theme of famous families from television, cinema and entertainment, a story was elaborated where its narration counted with music and dance as main elements to enhance the characterization and costumes of each of the 7 protagonist families, 101 Dalmatians, The Incredibles, The Smurfs, The Madrigal family from the movie Encanto, The Aragón family from the Payasos de la Tele, The Flintstones and the Addams Family.
The meeting began with the parade of specialist teachers and dining room assistants disguised as Trolls, who introduced students representing each level so that the public had a general vision of the true protagonists. A voice-over and different music were guiding the different interventions, which began Cruella Devil and the 100 students of children characterized as Dalmatians. They were followed by the students of first grade turned into superheroes, in the form of The Incredibles with an energetic choreography that made the audience clap and dance. The next story featured The Smurfs, fleeing from a Gargamel, represented with the grace of one of the parents who participated. The proposal of the third level brought to Tahíche the colorfulness of the mountain village of Colombia from the movie Encanto and the varied melodies of its soundtrack: Quinto staged the humor of the most modern troglodytes. The Flintstones. For their part, the sixth grade students, with much emotion for being their last carnivals at the school, gave life to the most terrifying and comical family, The Addams. The final touch to this carnival party was given by the school's Batucada.
Behind the presentation there has been a month of intense work, batucada rehearsals, choreography training, afternoons of workshops with families for the elaboration of costumes and preparation of sets. The carnival act is an educational commitment of the CEIP César Manrique Cabrera for all the skills that it allows to develop in the students, such as socialization, concentration, attention, rhythm, dance, the valuation of carnival as a Canarian patrimonial element.
