Canarian food gastronomic contest in La Recova

There are places that are part of a city's collective memory. Spaces where generations of Arrecife residents have bought, shared, and built part of their history. One of them is, without a doubt, La Recova Municipal.

With the aim of continuing to highlight local produce, gastronomy, and traditions that are part of Lanzarote's identity, the Arrecife City Council's Department of Commerce will celebrate "El Patio de los Sabores" this Saturday, June 13, a new initiative within the "¡Qué bien me sabe Arrecife!" campaign.

The event will turn La Recova into a meeting place where residents and visitors can enjoy tastings of zero-kilometer products, traditional Canarian music, live show cookings, and craft exhibitions that will bring some of the most representative flavors and traditions of our land closer to the public.

The program will begin at 11:00 AM with tastings of natural smoothies made with local fruits and vegetables. Throughout the morning, new gastronomic offerings will follow with tastings of local cheeses and wines, mojos, and artisanal jams, allowing the public to discover the quality and diversity of Lanzarote's local produce.

Among the most notable moments of the day are the show cooking by Los del Gofio and the ceviche with avocado tartare show cooking, two dishes that will highlight local cuisine from different perspectives and will be accompanied by tastings for attendees while supplies last.

Music will also play a leading role throughout the event with performances by El Golpito, Malpeís, Parranda Los Labradores, and Parranda La Aldaba, creating a festive and family atmosphere in one of the capital's most emblematic spaces.

In addition, those who visit La Recova will be able to learn about different artisanal manifestations linked to Canarian identity through exhibitions of rosettes, vegetable fiber crafts, empleita, and cochineal dyeing, bringing techniques and knowledge that are part of the islands' cultural heritage closer to the public.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that “there are few things that represent our land better than sharing a good meal, enjoying our music, and discovering the work behind our products and traditions. That is precisely what we are looking for with ‘El Patio de los Sabores’: that the neighbors enjoy, share, and feel proud of what is ours.”

For her part, the councilor for Commerce, Eli Merino, has pointed out that “we want those who come to La Recova to enjoy a complete experience, where local produce is the main protagonist. We will have tastings, show cookings, music, and crafts to continue bringing to the citizens all the value that exists behind our gastronomy and our traditions.”

“¡Qué bien me sabe Arrecife!” is an initiative that seeks to reinforce the gastronomic positioning of the capital, highlighting the work of producers, restaurateurs, merchants, and professionals who are part of the local economic fabric, as well as the importance of local produce and traditional meeting and consumption spaces.
