The Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council inaugurates this Wednesday a series of working sessions dedicated to the capital's carnival, under the premise that "the Arrecife carnival is everyone's business and to make decisions we need to have your opinion." These sessions give continuity to the meeting held last September.
Throughout the days of October 25, 26, and 27, representatives of all groups and collectives related to one of the most important festivals (along with San Ginés) of the capital, will participate in different working and debate tables, which will culminate with the elaboration of a document that will lay the foundations for the 2024 Carnivals.
The mayor, Yonathan de León, has highlighted, as he did in the previous meeting with the agents and representatives of the carnival groups, that "we are working to ensure that Arrecife, as the third capital of the Canary Islands, has high-level carnivals and the collaboration of the professionals who make it possible will allow us to define the line to follow." The mayor adds that the "commitment of the Governing Group he presides over is to count on the valuable contribution of all groups."
For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, highlights the "importance" of this novel initiative with which the first steps are taken for the creation of the 'Carnival Board' and points out that "for Arrecife to have the carnival it deserves, it is necessary that everyone, from consensus, gets involved; that the administration gives the impulse it has to give, and that the groups participate by putting on the table their opinions, needs and those issues that concern them and that they consider should be improved."
"For Arrecife to have the carnival it deserves, it is necessary that we all get involved"
Thus, the 'Historical Archive' of the capital will host from the afternoon of this Wednesday a total of "seven specific debate tables", which will culminate with a talk with guests from other islands related to the Carnival, who will contribute their experience, and with a summary of the conclusions that will later be reflected in a document.
"Our goal is that before the end of November, the order of participation in the contests, parades... is known. If there is an exhibition, if there is a Queen, that the float makers have the approved bases so that there are no last-minute changes, etcetera," emphasizes Eugenio.
