El Risco de Los Ancones kicked off its 2025 festivities this weekend in homage to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria and San Juan Bautista, with a proclamation full of memories, emotion and a sense of community.

The official act was opened by David Asorey Callero, member of the Festival Committee, who welcomed neighbors and visitors. Next, Olivia Duque, mayor of Teguise, took the floor to congratulate the organizers and highlight the importance of keeping the town's traditions alive.

The most anticipated moment came with the intervention of the town criers, Doña Felisa González and Don Felipe Pérez, who, through a narrated video, transported the public to 1984, the year of their arrival in Los Ancones. They recalled what the area was like before it had a beach —when machinery had to be introduced to create the current cove— and evoked the old festivals, in which a simple garbage bag served as a costume for the parade, or how at Easter, as children, David, Orlando and their friends carried the saints in a wheelbarrow.

In their story there was also space to pay tribute to Juanito and Guillermina, founders of Los Ancones, who signed the donation contract for the land where the church and the Socio-Cultural Center would be today. "We already have Candelaria and soon San Juan Bautista," they commented, encouraging us to continue advancing to complete the facilities, "even if it is with a small room so that there is something more."

The evening concluded with the musical performances of Atenea and Gianlucca García, who put the finishing touch to a night that turned out to be a resounding success and left the public with hearts full of pride and gratitude for their history and traditions.
