A ruling by the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has sided with the roadside cleaning service workers of the Lanzarote Island Council by recognizing them as permanent employees.

Specifically, they explain that what they were requesting was "equal working conditions with the staff of the Island Council, as permanent employees."

According to their statements, the ruling "restores job stability after years of uncertainty and constant subrogations, and highlights the responsibility of the Cabildo of Lanzarote in guaranteeing fair and stable working conditions, even if the management is carried out through contracting companies."

"It's true that the resources can always be improved, but they stick to what the specifications stipulate, and that's what we work with," they state.

This ruling by the TSJC [High Court of Justice of Catalonia] is said to "restore dignity and peace of mind to the affected workers after so many years of changes, insecurity, and precarious contracts."

Currently, the workers are waiting for the Cabildo of Lanzarote to "effectively" assume what was dictated in the TSJC ruling. Those affected emphasize that, "just as on other occasions the subrogations were communicated urgently and applied quickly, now they hope that the Cabildo will act with the same agility and efficiency to guarantee the full restitution of their rights."
