The Court of First Instance of Arrecife (Las Palmas) has initiated the transfer process towards the new model of Judicial Office, in compliance with Organic Law 1/2025, with the aim of modernizing the organization of the public Justice service in Lanzarote and La Graciosa. This project is developed in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and represents "a key step to improve efficiency, streamline procedures and optimize available resources," according to the Communication Office of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands.

Due to the complexity of the relocation  -it involves the movement of personnel, computer equipment and files-  in-person activity at the Arrecife Palace of Justice will be limited between March 20 and April 5, 2026. During this period, only essential services and urgent actions will be maintained, which include the on-call service, cases of violence against women, previously scheduled trials and hearings, the actions of the Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Service (SEMAC), urgent internments, social care for people with disabilities, as well as the work of the Forensic Clinic, Prosecutor's Office and Civil Registry. Also, those procedures that cannot be postponed will be attended to.

The Presidency of the Court requests citizen collaboration, recommending avoiding going to the judicial facilities for ordinary procedures during these weeks, with the aim of facilitating the correct development of the move.

The new model of Judicial Office introduces an organizational structure based on three large areas called Common Services, designed to improve coordination and reduce response times.

First, the General Common Service, located on floor 1, will function as a central public service point, where citizens can obtain information and carry out procedures.

Secondly, the Common Processing Service, distributed on floors 2 and 3, will concentrate the management of judicial procedures, organized by subjects such as family, civil procedures, criminal cases or violence against women, with a clear identification to facilitate orientation.

Finally, the Common Enforcement Service, located on the 3rd floor, will be responsible for ensuring compliance with judicial resolutions in the criminal, social, and civil spheres.

Guiding

To facilitate adaptation to this new organization, provisional informative signage will be installed from the building entrance, guiding users on the new distribution of services.

This process has been carefully planned since mid-2025 by the Presidency of the Court, judges, clerks of the Administration of Justice and other institutional officials, in coordination with the Government of the Canary Islands. Likewise, professional associations, security forces and other legal operators have been previously informed, with the aim of guaranteeing an orderly and effective transition.

The institution thanks the effort of the staff of the Palace of Justice and the understanding of the citizenry regarding the possible inconveniences derived from the relocation, trusting that the new Judicial Office will be fully operational in the shortest possible time and contribute to offering a more agile and efficient justice service.
