The Yaiza City Council has started this Wednesday the construction works of the ramp and stairs that will connect the sidewalk that borders the ravine bridge with Avenida a Femés in order to facilitate pedestrian traffic on a route usually chosen by young people and families who use the school bus stop located near the entrance roundabout of the town.
The councilor for maintenance of public spaces, Rubén Arca, reports that "the design of the ramp foresees the angle of inclination estimated by the accessibility regulations and its rest areas for consecutive sections, and a few meters away, a staircase will also be enabled."
Speaking of other actions in accessibility, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, recalls that "all the investments we make in paving streets involve lowering sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, road safety projects in which we continue to advance." The southern leader refers to "the projects executed in all the streets in the urban area of San Marcial de Rubicón, Costa Papagayo, central streets of Playa Blanca, Avenida Papagayo and the current action carried out by the City Council in the town of Yaiza."
In 2018, the City Council had already replaced the wooden bridge over the ravine with a new one and "is now intervening to continue on the path of eliminating architectural barriers." Óscar Noda and councilors Rubén Arca and Ángel Domínguez were this Wednesday at the intervention site.
