This week the IV Turespaña Convention 2024, "Everything changes again: emerging technologies for a new tourism model", organized in collaboration with Turismo de Tenerife and the island's Cabildo, is being held in Tenerife.
The role of digitalization and emerging technologies applied in the development of a more sustainable and responsible tourism is the central theme of this fourth edition that is held at the La Pirámide de Arona Congress Palace until October 3.
As a novelty this year, this IV Convention started today with a first working day dedicated to bilateral meetings of the Tourism advisors abroad and the central services staff of Turespaña, with more than 1,000 meetings scheduled, with destinations and tourism companies.
The professional program begins this Wednesday, with the inauguration by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu. The opening ceremony will also be attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jésica de León; the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes.
The program includes 25 events including presentations, lectures, conversations, keynotes and round tables. Among them: the challenges and perspectives of the tourism sector; the use and application of technology in the commercialization of the tourism offer; digital marketing in international markets; Big Data and data processing or AI applied to tourism.
In addition, the experiences of good practices will be shared; the example of other destinations; the platform of intelligent tourist destinations; the planning of new tourism strategies or the transformation of the Spanish tourism model, will be some of the topics that will be analyzed throughout the two days of sessions.
Leading experts from the tourism sector
This edition brings together more than 50 leading experts from the tourism sector, including professionals from leading companies in the national tourism sector, as well as representatives of Public Administrations, Autonomous Communities
and local entities. Among the most prominent speakers are representatives from Paradores, Destinia, Banco de España, Civitatis, Microsoft or CEOE, among others.
Likewise, the tourism advisors will make presentations on strategic international markets (such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States), others to take into account (Poland, Mexico and Colombia) and Asia (China, Japan and Korea, and Southeast Asia).
Good practices will also be shared and experiences will be exchanged between different countries, such as the conversation between Spain and Italy, in which the director of Turespaña and the president - ENIT Agenzia Nazionale del Turismo, Alessandra Priante, will be present.
