They announce the construction of a new luxury hotel in Playa Blanca, in the midst of the debate about overtourism

The luxury accommodation will consist of 97 rooms with private access to the pool, on an island that is still declared in water emergency

The hotel company Canarian Hospitality has begun the works of a new luxury tourist accommodation in Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza. The second establishment it would have in the tourist town in the south of Lanzarote

This five-star hotel complex will be comprised of 97 luxury rooms with private access to the pool. According to information provided by Hosteltur, construction is scheduled to begin this February and is expected to last for at least 24 months. Therefore, it would not open until the spring of 2028.

This announcement comes amid the debate on tourist overcrowding in Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary archipelago. In April 2024, around 10,000 people demonstrated in Lanzarote against tourist overcrowding, and mobilizations were repeated on May 18 of last year 2025 to demand a tourist and vacation moratorium. The CEO of Canarian Hospitality, Francisco Fernández, has pointed out that “the launch of this project reinforces our commitment to unique developments in strategic locations, capable of generating long-term value for both the destination and investors”.

The company, established in 2021, is specialized in the operation of "holiday hotels" and is made up of several professionals from the tourism industry in Spain. 

In Lanzarote, it already manages two other hotels, the MYND Yaiza, which opened in December 2022, and the Radisson Blu Resort, which it manages under a franchise agreement since the same year. The first, located in Playa Blanca, is composed of eight buildings with 304 rooms, four swimming pools, and two water parks. The second, located in Costa Teguise, has 225 rooms and four swimming pools
