The vast majority of Lanzarote believes that tourism money goes elsewhere

The figure for Lanzarote is eleven points higher than the archipelago's average and is only surpassed by the opinions of residents in Fuerteventura

79.9% of residents in Lanzarote believe that most of the wealth generated by tourism in the Canary Islands benefits companies from outside, according to the latest Canary Islands socio-barometer presented in November by the UNED headquarters in Gran Canaria.

Only in Fuerteventura was the percentage higher (81.6%), while after Lanzarote, the island with the most people who believe most of the money goes elsewhere is La Palma (78.4%), followed by Tenerife (73%)

In El Hierro, those who agreed that most of the wealth generated by tourism in the archipelago benefits foreign companies were 61.3%.

Only in La Gomera (59.2%) and Gran Canaria (59.8%) do the percentages not reach 60% of the population.

In Lanzarote, those who disagreed with the assertion that most of the wealth generated by tourism leaves the island were 18.6%. Only Fuerteventura had fewer, with 15% of respondents.

In La Gomera (29.8%) and El Hierro (28.6%), perhaps due to having more family businesses overall, and in Gran Canaria (59.8%), the origin of some hotel groups, the highest percentages of disagreement were obtained, although they do not even reach one-third of those surveyed.
